Donating? Please phone ahead to check if we have room for your donations before bringing your books/materials to the Book Place. 415-209-0212. Our room gets full very quickly, and we often have to refuse donations temporarily. Please read our Donation Guidelines for further direction.
We are requesting that donors NOT bring in any hardcover Mysteries at this time, unless they are very recent (2016-2017). After we catch up, we'll again be taking them. Thanks for your understanding.
January Clearance Sale!
January brings with it one of our famous Half-Price Clearance sales. Our storewide sale happens January 19-21; Friday and Saturday, 10-4pm and Sunday 12-4. Donations have been generous the last few months, and it's time to clear the decks; take advantage of these savings while supporting your libraries!
The Book Place stocks more than 45 categories of used books, along with audiobooks, DVDs and CDs. During the sale, everything is half off the already-low pricing, which makes for some serious savings and the opportunity to stock up.
Clearance Sale hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 am-4 pm, and Sunday ($9 per Bag Sale, no oversized bags), Noon-4pm. Stock is replenished during store hours Friday and Saturday. Cash and check only, please, so be prepared.
We are located at 1608 Grant Avenue, near 7th Street, in downtown Novato. Hassle-free parking is behind the store (enter off 7th Street) with a back entrance for an easy shopping experience.
Remember, all your purchases benefit our county libraries, so shop often!

You'll find books in every category--fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, children's books, collector's items and much more. You'll also find CDs, videos, and audiobooks. The shop is open seven days a week and has unbeatable prices, with books starting at just a quarter. We're staffed entirely by volunteers, and new members can find volunteer opportunities there, too. The Book Place is operated by the Friends of the Marin County Free Library, a nonprofit volunteer organization. All proceeds are used for special programs, needs, and materials for the Marin County Free Libraries.
Donations are welcome any time during regular business hours. PLEASE review our donation guidelines before bringing your donations. We accept books and media in good/very good condition.
